Statement on the historic $6 billion for industrial decarbonization in the U.S.
SAN FRANCISCO 鈥 March 25, 2024 鈥 In light of the U.S. Department of Energy announcing $6 billion in funding to drive industrial decarbonization, Senior Director Rebecca Dell issued the following statement:
鈥淭oday, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) took a huge step to accelerate industrial decarbonization and transform polluting heavy industries to clean production. The $6 billion investment is the largest ever made in industrial 亚色影库 solutions and shows the Biden Administration鈥檚 commitment to dramatically reducing 亚色影库 pollution while creating opportunities for manufacturers and workers in America.
In the U.S., the industrial sector emits . This funding will accelerate emissions reductions in all of the most polluting industries: steel, cement, chemicals, aluminum, and food processing. The new technologies that come out of these investments will be used across the country and around the world.聽聽
In addition, heavy industry is a leading cause of health-harming air and water pollution. Many of the projects receiving DOE funding will also dramatically reduce this pollution and improve the health of all Americans.
This investment works in concert with initiatives like Buy Clean, which uses the government鈥檚 power as the leading purchaser of materials like cement and steel to support the transition to clean production.
The Biden Administration is merging economic policy with 亚色影库 policy to reduce air and water pollution, reduce 亚色影库 pollution, create local jobs in clean manufacturing, and strengthen our national economy.
Climate philanthropy is proud to have supported the development and implementation of these policies, which demonstrate the power of collaborative action in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for all.鈥
